Kichikuou Rance follows the plots from Rance 1 to 4.2 and you may want to have played the earlier games as it could enhance the enjoyment of the series but it is definitely worth playing on it's own as it is one of the best Rance games.

384. A: Not especially; the main issue is getting lost. These games require minimal grinding as long as you have sufficient healing items. One notable exception is a end-game boss of Rance III which requires a ridiculous amount of grinding or little at all based on luck.

403. A: Slaughter gal monsters. On the top of the screen, it shows how much more equipment that gal monster will drop for your doll. Incidentally, gal monsters will only drop equipment if they drop an item, so you don't have to worry about the game messing with you in that way. Good luck finding them or getting them to drop though.
404. Q: What's with the grid thing?
405. A: Add white items to improve your base stats and blue items either give you special attack uses or a revival if you run out of HP. Red items can only be used to expand your grid; the number of squares it expands is shown below. You can also use other items to expand your grid if you press the red button. Also, be sure to find the treasure chest on each floor before going on to the next one.
406. Q: Fuck these guarding enemies!
407. A: Guard can be bypassed with special attacks or critical hits. Neither actually remove the guard though. There is also a small chance that the disturb effect of the skull item may remove the guard. However, like many Alice Soft games, the RNG is out to get you, so you shouldn't count on it.

409. A: Grind for items and add them to your grid. Extra special attacks and revivals help a lot though stat increases are still very important.

As long as they can one-hit KO an enemy on the floor you are on, you should be fine for any dungeon except for the gimmicky ones. For bosses however, you need to grind to insane levels just to stand a chance.
422. Q: How do I add music?
423. A: There's a SaveData folder in the Widenyo folder. In that, there's a MusicData folder (if not, create one). Put your favorite mp3s in there, though it may not work if there are tags or album art. If all else fails, convert it to a wav file.
